Under general supervision from the Environment and Health Supervisor, execute sanitarian, food safety and food defense programs by performing the following duties:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Responsible for the execution of following programs: GMP, SSOP, Pest Control, foreign material control, and chemical control.
Investigate, mitigate and provide written responses to foreign material consumer complaints
Extensive experience in food safety auditing and leading auditing teams.
Execute and maintain sanitation programs. Including the master sanitation schedule as performed by production departments.
Schedule and manage internal plant audits. Includes the documentation of observations, corrective actions and submittal of maintenance work orders.
Follow regulations concerned with such things as food processing, collection and disposal of solid wastes and vector control.
On a scheduled basis, verify and validate cleaning/sanitation procedures.
Develop and execute programs to comply with corporate sanitation requirements, SQF, and HACCP.
Assures adherence to quality standards, including GMP’s and food safety.
Tracks and monitors compliance to standards.
Maintain record-keeping systems that are compliant with corporate, customer and government requirements.
Direct and supervise plant/distribution sanitation and pest management program to ensure all equipment and plant areas meet GMP standards for cleanliness and rodent/insect suppression.
Recommend sanitation standards.
Prepare reports to communicate results of quality assurance activities.
Responsible for writing, reviewing, updating and training sanitation SSOP’s.

Directly supervises 5-10 employees and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Supervision includes observing and evaluating work performed by second shift personnel. 20-50% of the work week would include off shift supervision. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in Food Science or Chemistry from four-year college or university; or three to five years of practical experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
HACCP, SQF, GFSI, Audit certifications.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Proficiency with MS Office, including Excel, Word, Visio, and Outlook. Database and ERP system experience preferred.
