Position Summary:
Special Olympics, Inc. seeks an experienced, full-time Editor/Videographer to create impactful content, particularly videos, to support Special Olympics’ strategic plan and brand objectives. In this role, you will gather, create, package and share media as branded video storytelling assets that influence positive attitudes, inspire new and current stakeholders, and contribute toward international audience growth. This includes maintaining the Special Olympics brand and voice (one that is inclusive, informative and engaging) across multiple platforms while across the organization, with our Regions and with external brands and stakeholders. The role requires an enterprising thinker with a knack for developing powerful, visual storytelling who is proficient in using the latest techniques resulting in optimal engagement. The successful candidate will ensure visuals represent diversity and are ADA compliant.
The majority of the video production work will consist of editing videos from existing footage or footage shot outside of Special Olympics headquarters. To create finished videos, some knowledge of graphic design is required. Shooting largely consists of capturing video messages with and without green screens. In addition, there will be opportunities to shoot in the field. Some writing is necessary to summarize or explain content plans and results. The role will also help manage content collection teams and media management for global events.

Responsibilities:
- Working with Special Olympics staff, vendors, and freelancers/consultants to collect video (in-house archival, shoots, and other sources) to use in various ways on various platforms including adding subtitles and graphics as well as creating social media clips for co-productions with partners.
- Own and deliver on the video process from concept to completion.
- Creative brainstorming ideas around digital content and participating in meetings to plan engagement strategies for upcoming work.
- Understanding and managing video technical specifications for various deliverables.
- Accountable for maintaining relationships and management of expectations while ensuring completed work is on strategy, on time, and delivered within budget.
- Maintaining consistent communication with necessary colleagues to facilitate an efficient workflow.
- Remaining current on industry and technological trends and providing updates/insights to team members.
- Fostering innovative solutions to maximize resources.
- Demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of the production, logistics and technical components of video development.
- Managing several projects simultaneously with attention to detail.
- Supports the creation of toolkits and best practices for Regions, Programs and partners.
Requirements:
- Strong understanding and technical knowledge of production process from conception and to final delivery including pre-productions, production, post-production and deliverables.
- Ability to tell a great story and move audiences to action.
- Experience creating graphics for videos.
- Experience producing web, social media, and mobile video content.
- Working knowledge of the adobe creative suite (emphasis on Premiere, After Effects and Photoshop or Illustrator).
- Strong written communications skills.
- Ability to work in a team and independently on projects.
- Ability to track and maintain workflow.
- Customer service and relationship management skills a is must.
- Three to five years of experience creating short-form videos, including shooting and editing.
- International travel required.
- Most be able to report, in person, to the Washington DC office several days a week.
