About
Hello,
My name is Joshua Jay Miller. I was born and raised in Montana, both in Plentywood, in the far
northeast corner of the state, and Kalispell, the gateway to Glacier National Park. I graduated in 1990
from Kalispell after developing a love for music, especially the drums, and was an avid and active
member of my high school band and the drummer for a couple of area rock bands. I switched gears and
entered DeVry University and studied in the IT field, and following graduation, became the IT Director for
Jewish Family and Children’s Services in Phoenix, Arizona. However, that inner musician kept nagging at
me, and I entered the Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences. An internship led me to California
where I learned about the upstart internet radio service, Pandora. I became a customer service
representative and worked my way up the ladder to a senior level position following Pandora’s
acquisition by SiriusXM. During the pandemic, I became a remote worker and moved to Arizona to help
my sister.
I have made it my mission in life to help others in whatever position I have held, and I continue to hold
that philosophy close to my heart. My sister and I recently moved to Oregon from Arizona so that we
could spend quality time with our mother, who is 84 years of age. I am an honest, dedicated, and
compassionate person, and I look forward to living in the beautiful state of Oregon in close proximity to
family. I am eager to continue learning all I can in whatever opportunities life brings me.
Since moving to Oregon, I was fortunate to join the team at OIS as a contractor through The Galt
Foundation. I am presently an IAM Provisioner (Information Systems Specialist 4), after starting in August
2023. I provide support to internal customers of the Office of Information Services (OIS) and receive and
process ODHS/OHA requests via online Individual Access Request (IAR 786) submissions. I receive,
prioritize, process and interpret requests from the agencies served, providing access as requested to
numerous network resources. I help with onboarding new employees and partners, updating Access for
existing employees, and offboarding. I interpret requests from a wide variety of end users and
communicate clearly and professionally via email, phone or instant messaging as needed in order to
clarify request requirements and assist customers. I also create tickets for other technical support teams
inside and outside of OIS to assist with requested needs.
I have considerable background and experience in all areas of information technology, especially security
and access controls. I have a good working knowledge of the agencies, programs, locations of offices and
staff to assist the customers within and affiliated with the Department of Human Services and Oregon
Health Authority. I also have the ability to work under pressure and retain a professional and tactful
manner in all interactions with customers.
I also work collaboratively in a team setting with excellent team player skills, including the willingness to
collaborate, share information, and contribute to the team's success as necessary. This position also
requires excellent customer service skills for both internal and external customers, and these are
qualities I have honed throughout my years in the customer service field.
I am so excited to apply for this opportunity, and I sincerely thank you for your time and consideration.
